TAKEAWAY

PROTOTYPE & CONCEPT

BACKGROUND

As a university student, I often need to summarize different academic readings or research findings to gather insights for my papers. While I was struggling with Descartes' Meditation one day, it strikes me that someone has to digest this piece of complex information all over again. This is when I realized how many time could be saved with summary-sharing and came up with the idea of building a summary platform.

WHAT IS TAKEAWAY?

Takeaway is an online summary platform for users to learn, document and share the key takeaways of videos, books, seminars, talks, academic journals and more. Takeaway offers 3 types of content: user-generated summaries, Takeaway-team-crafted summaries and expert summaries (created by professional journalists or researchers). The first is free for everyone whereas the rest is accessible by premium users.

WHY TAKEAWAY?

In this era of information explosion, we are consuming information as much as they are consuming us. We spend a lot of time and effort to read books, attend conferences, and browse information online, but very often our effort gone wasted as the key takeaways get lost in clusters of language complexities or fading memory. Takeaway tackles this problem by offering concise summaries of complex information and a platform for users to record their own takeaways.
